Eleanor M. Pesta Gere, 88 formerly of Lake City, went to be with the Lord on Monday October 26, 2009.
She was born April 5, 1921 in Cleveland Ohio, a daughter of the late George and Anna Pesta.
Eleanor was raised and educated in Cranesville, graduating from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1939. She moved to the Girard/Lake City area in 1944 and most recently to Fairview Manor.
She was a member of the Lake City Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Women's Association. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and devoted her life to taking care of her family.
She had worked at Girard Mfg. and the Girard Pharmacy. She had been a dedicated homemaker the remainder of her life.
In addition to her parents Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Harvey L. Gere, in 1997; also by two sisters, Marie Stoker and Betty Pacansky; and a brother, John Pesta.
She will be sadly missed by her family, which includes her daughter, Elaine S. (Ross) Kansy and her husband Rick of Albion; two sons, Charles L. Gere and his wife Ann of East Springfield, Martin T. Gere and his wife Suzie of Madison,Fla.; a sister, Irene Ciko of Millcreek, seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call today, Wednesday, from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. Services will be held there on Thursday at 10AM. Rev. Charles McClung, Pastor of the Lake City Presbyterian Church will be officiating.
Burial will be in the Springfield Cemetery.
