Karl R. Bronoel, 83 of Girard, died Friday January 1, 2010 at St. Vincent Health Center following a brief illness.
He was born February 11, 1926 in Frenchville, PA. a son of the late Lloyd and Blanche Fohner Bronoel.
Karl moved to the Girard area as a young boy, and later began his working career at Marx Toy's in Girard. As America was at war, he enlisted in the US Coast Guard, where he sailed the Great Lakes and the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts. He later enlisted in the US Army where he took part in the occupational forces of Japan.
Upon his discharge from the military he returned to the Girard area where he went to work at Gunnison Brothers Tannery. He remained employed there until his retirement as Supervisor in 1990.
He was a member of the Girard American Legion Post #494 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing his yard, and carpentry, building his own home on Tannery Rd. in Girard where he lived many years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son in law Leslie Bloom.
He will be sadly missed by his family, which includes his wife, Jessie McMillen Bronoel, whom, he married, November 7, 1948 in Girard also by three daughters, Dannetta I. Simkovitch and her husband Richard of Lake City, Melodie J. Graham and her husband Dwight of Long Beach, CA, Robin R. Bloom of Seal Beach,CA; a sister, Goldie Herbert of Bradenton,FL.; a brother, Lloyd N. Bronoel of Girard; his grandchildren, Harland Simkovitch, Jessica Bartlebaugh, Kyle, Erin, Shane and Tara Bloom; his great grandchildren, Alisha Simkovitch, Nicholas Neal, Mia Bartlebaugh, and Logan Simkovitch.
Friends may call on Thursday from 9AM until the time of a Memorial Service at 10AM at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. Rev. Darrell Greenawalt officiating.
