Albert Kuvik

Albert D. Kuvik, 80 of Girard, died Wednesday January 6, 2010 at his home following a brief illness.
 He was born October 20, 1929 in Platea, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Anne Hrico Kuvik.
 Albert attended Girard's Rice Avenue Union High School and soon after went to work at Marx Toys in Girard. He was inducted into the US Army during the Korean Conflict where he served with the Mountaineers: 1092 EngineerCombat Battalion. Upon his discharge from the military he returned to the Girard area where he opened a Sunoco Station at Rt 5 &18 and also the Dairy Oasis. He later worked for Hopkins Mfg. in Lake City as a foreman and most recently had been employed by the Girard School District as Director of Maintenance where he retired from. While retired he also worked with Clancy Mitchell doing all types of masonry work.
 He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard, the Girard American Legion Post #494 and a former member of the Lake City Fire Police. He enjoyed hunting, dancing, karaoke, polkas and country and western music.
 He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce D. Kuvik in 1983 and whom he married May 23, 1951 in East Springfield, also by a sister, Mary Graves and three brothers, Michael, Joseph and John Kuvik.
 He is survived by two daughters, Sonja J. Loyd of Ashtabula, Sandy Kuvik of Albion; a step daughter, Katie Sidun of Missouri; two sons, Rodney Kuvik of Warren, Pa., Lane Kuvik of Erie; four grandchildren, Nicholas Grettler, Bridgette Kuvik, Cody and Aaron Loyd; a great granddaughter, McKenzie Lee Anderson; four sisters in law, Regis Kuvik of Albion, Jeanette Mikovitch of Springboro, Helen Pacansky of Girard, and Arlene Beam and her husband Russell of Girard also several nieces and nephews.
 Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. A prayer service will be held on Monday at 9:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 101Olin Ave. Girard at 10AM.
 Burial with full military honors will be st St. John's Cemetery, Girard.
