Patricia Boyle

Patricia Mary Behre Boyle, 79, of Lake City, died unexpectedly at her home on Friday, February 19, 2010. She was born in Newark, New Jersey, on New Years Eve, 1930, a daughter of the late Walter C. and Margurite Gaynor Behre. Following her graduation from Summit High School in NJ, she attended Simmons College in Boston where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism. She served as a U.S. Naval officer in the Boston area during the Korean conflict. During her service, she met her future husband, Dr. Richard Boyle, of North Tonawanda, NY, and they were married in November, 1954. Pat managed the West County Red Cross Blood Drive for over 30 years, and served as a member of the regional Board of Directors. She was honored with the Metcalf Award for Red Cross Service in 2002. She was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard, PA for over 50 years. Pat sang in the church choir and served as its director for many years. She worked tirelessly in support of the school and parish, and was given an Outstanding Service Award for her efforts. She was also named a "Lady of St. Patrick" in 2002 for dedicated service to church and community. Pat was very proud of her Irish heritage. She was active in the Irish Cultural Society as well as the Knights & Ladies of St. Patrick's. She and Dick hosted an annual St. Pat's Party, which recently was held as an "Irish Hooley" to benefit St. John's Parish Center. Pat and Dick felt blessed to have been able to make several visits to the "Old Sod" during the past 30 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Joseph Behre. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Dr. Richard C. Boyle, their five children, 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Their children include Casey Linnemeyer of CO, Tracy Kulik of GA, Trish Wampler of KY, Dr. Sean Boyle of NY and Bob Boyle of CO. Pat also left a brother, Roger Behre of NC and a sister, Lillian O'Brien of NJ. Throughout life, Pat always tried to help others. In keeping with those values, she wished her body to be donated to the University of Buffalo Medical School. There will be no calling hours observed. A Memorial Service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 101 Olin Avenue in Girard on Saturday, February 27 at 7 pm. The Boyle family will be gathering at St. John's Parish Center immediately following Mass for a traditional Irish wake. All are welcome to attend both events. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. John's Parish Center Fund/SMILES, which Pat helped to organize, and recognized as her favorite charity. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, Girard. To send condolences visit edderfuneralhome.com

Pat will be missed. She was a four leaf clover that is hard to find and happy to have found it.

Dick and Family,
Our deepest sympathy in your loss. It is incredible how time has passed and the pains of medical education have been replaced by the memories of the wonderful people who endured it with us. She will be counted as one of the best and she will be missed. We will remember her in our prayers.
