Margaret L. "Peg" Veil Roberts Carlson, 79 of Girard, died Wednesday June 16, 2010 at UPMC Pittsburgh following a lengthy illness.
   Peg was born November 23, 1930 in Scalp Level, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.  Peg was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Adeline M. Gossar Veil.  She graduated from Windber High School in 1948.
   Peg married Richard D. Roberts on September 3, 1950 while he was serving in the US Seabees.  Peg worked at City Bank in Washington DC until beginning their family and relocating to Lake City.  Peg also worked at Elk Valley Elementary School as an aide, the Lake City office, and Marine Bank.  Later she co-owned with her second husband Ed Carlson the James City Café located near Kane.
  She was a member of the Girard American Legion Post #494 Auxiliary; Springfield VFW Post #4965, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #408. She enjoyed serving at the luncheons and supporting the various functions for the veterans.
  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward A. Carlson, a grandson Marcius P. Jordan IV, and her first husband Richard D. Roberts.
  Peg will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family and friends.  She is survived by her five daughters Robin L. Roberts of Bentleyville, Sandie L. Smialek and her husband Gary of Girard, Cathy D. Stanchick and her husband David of Fairview, Kim M. Drushel and her husband George of Girard, and Pegi V. Kinner of Kane along with their children Carrie Buckner and her husband BJ, Robert, Sarah and Scott Garber, Nathan and Justin Smialek, Kyle and Matthew Carlson, Alyssa, Kelly and Delaney Drushel, and Briana and Cassie Kinner; and a great granddaughter Julia Garber.  Peg is also survived by her two brothers Robert C. Veil and his wife Grace of Hagerstown, Maryland and James L. Veil and his wife Peg of Boswell, Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.
 Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4PM and 7 to 9PM at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. Services will be held there on Saturday at 11AM.
 Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
