Joseph W. Hrinda, 91 of Girard, passed away on Monday March 11, 2019 at pleasant Ridge Manor.
He was born June 9, 1927 in Franklin Twp., a son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Danko) Chichura Hrinda.
Joe graduated in 1946 from the Rice Avenue Union High School in Girard. Following high school he went to work at Erie Forge and Steel, also known as National Forge, where he worked many years as a Machinist. He retired from there in 1988 as a finish grinder on drive shafts for the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of S.S. Cyril & Methodius Byzantine Catholic Church in Girard and a member of their bowling team for many years as well. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Girard Council #5430. Joe loved hunting, especially turkeys and deer. He also loved his two dogs Hans and Vicky. He enjoyed vegetable gardening at his home and was well known throughout the area for the strawberries he grew and sold at his home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet M. Hrinda Parker in 2008, also by sisters, Ann Knorr, Mary Pangratz, Betty Schultz and Eleanor Hrinda; brothers, John O., George, Michael and Dan Hrinda.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Komisarski) Hrinda, whom he married, July 2, 1949 in Erie, a son, Donald G. Hrinda (Cathy Sue) also by a daughter, Karen Ann Dibble (Robert J.); son-in-law , Jonas Parker sisters, Irene Wisniewski and Helen Klier (John); a sister in law, Mary Ann Hrinda; his grandchildren, Aaron Joseph Hrinda (Kristen), Adam G. Hrinda, Andrea K. Hrinda, Bobbielyn Dibble-Norris (Will), Jonathan M. Dibble; great grandchildren, Abigail, Logan, Carter, Annabella, Phillip J., Gemma, Eden, Tallia, also several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard. The Parastas Service will be there at 5:30 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held there on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Litergy at 10 a.m. at S.S. Cyril & Methodius Byzantine Catholic Church, 1022 Tilden Ave., Girard with Fr. John Mihalco officiating.
Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Girard.
