Marilyn M. Marthaler, 88 of Girard, passed away on Sunday October 7, 2018 at St. Vincent Health Center.
She was born in Girard April 16, 1930, a daughter of the late John Elmer and Rose J. (Wegmiller) Marthaler.
Marilyn graduated from the Rice Avenue Union High School in 1948. Following high school she began working at a local grocery store in Girard and later worked on the assembly line at Marx Toys. Most recently she had been employed by the Presbyterian Homes in Girard as a cook.
She was a lifelong member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Girard and was active in the church choir. Marilyn was also known in the area for making quilts for babies and families.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty and Muriel Marthaler
She will be greatly missed by her family, which include her sister, Shirley R. Rilling; four nieces, Wendy S. Wojtecki (Michael), Kimberly A. Brown (Robert), Tracy L. Pastewka, Melissa L. Metzfield (Thomas); two great nephews, three great nieces; three great great nieces and five great great nephews.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend services there on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Edwards officiating.
