R. James "Jim" Mischler, 82 of Girard, passed away on Monday July 9, 2018 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Jim was born in Franklin Township on February 9, 1936, a son of the late Ralph D. and Velma Beerbower Mischler. He graduated from Edinboro High School in 1954 and went to work at the family dairy farm, which he eventually purchased and operated with his wife Lillian from 1970 to 2000. Earlier in his career he worked for Erie Mop and Wringer and also worked on the construction of I-90.
He was a member of the First Alliance Church of Erie, the Pennsylvania Farmers Association, and was on the Board of Directors of Milk Marketing, Inc. Jim was also on the General McLane School Board for 18 years. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Daniel L. Mischler in 1998 and a brother in law James Wilbur.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian N. Anderson Mischler, whom he married on October 25, 1954 in Girard; his three sons, M. Mark Mischler (Maria) of Waterford, John E. Mischler (Melanie) of Girard, and James Robert "Rob" Mischler (Christi) of Girard; a sister, Janice Wilbur of Millcreek; nine grandchildren, Michael, Stephen, Nathan (Stephanie), Benjamin, Rebekah, Joshua, Rachel, Kylie and Abigail Mischler; one great-granddaughter, Brookelyn and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend services on Friday at the Girard Alliance Church, 229 Rice Ave., Girard at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
