Vincent Jarmolowicz

Vincent Jarmolowicz, beloved husband/caregiver, father, teacher and hero
  Vincent Jarmolowicz of Erie, PA passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the age of 96, at St. Vincent Health Center following a brief illness. 
  Vincent was born September 7, 1921 in Erie, PA, a son of the late Walter and Antonia (Kowalkska) Jarmolowicz.
  He was raised and educated in the Erie/Harborcreek area and attended night school at Tech Memorial and Academy High School. He worked on the family farm until he started his career at General Electric in 1941 and was inducted into the US Army in 1943.  He served in the 91st Infantry Division in the 363rd Infantry Company and was deployed to North Africa. Later the infantry was involved in the European Theatre and was sent to Naples and Rome, Italy, where Vincent was wounded twice and received the Purple Heart, Oak Leaf Cluster, and 2 Battle Stars for wounds received in action. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he returned to work at GE where he remained until his retirement in 1984, following 42 years of service.
  He was a member of the American Legion Post #571 of Wesleyville and the Polish Falcons Nest # 123 of Erie.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and landscaping.
  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Grabiniski and Theresa Ester; his brothers, Frances and Chester Jarmolowicz.
  He is survived by his wife, Norma Jarmolowicz, whom he married on July 9, 1966; step-daughters Brenda DeMello and her husband Leonard of New Kensington, PA, Colleen Longstreet and her husband, Marc of Fairview, and Lisa Catalfu and her husband, David of Erie; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
  Friends are invited to call at the Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main Street, East, Girard on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 1 to 4 p.m. and are invited to the funeral service there on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. 
  Memorials may be made to the Vincent Jarmolowicz Memorial Fund, c/o Edder Funeral Home. 
  Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
