William L.Grace, 88, of Fairview passed away on Thursday October 4, 2018 surrounded by his family at his home in Fairview.
He was born to the late Henry and Thelma (Cray) Grace in Erie, on Nov. 23, 1929.
Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force in September of 1950 and was deployed to Korea and the Philippines during the Korean War. He returned from deployment to the states and was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota.
Upon his honorable discharge from the military he returned home and began employment at Lund Boat Works in Erie as a builder. He later worked at Parker White Metal (Now PHB Diecast) for 26 years, retiring as Health and Safety Engineer. He was a member at the Fairview United Methodist Church and the Fairview American Legion, Post #742 for 64 years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Bean and Georgia Prather; two brothers, Henry "Bud" Grace and Robert Grace.
Bill will be greatly missed by his family, which include his wife Harriet (O'Dell) Grace, whom he married on January 17, 1953 in Fairview; three daughters; Susan Young (David) of Brunswick, OH; Diane Corwin (Joel) of Maumee, OH; and Kathleen Krautter (Ronald) of Edinboro; one son, William L. Grace Jr. (John) of Erie; his beloved grandchildren; Kyle (Rachelle), Seth (Mandy), Adam, Kayla (Alex) and Emily; delighted by his great grandchildren, Ella, Oliver and Alexis, also several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.at Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard, and are invited to attend services there on Monday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Jack Tickle officiating. .
Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery with full military honors.
