Barbara E. (Peterson) Miller

Barbara E. Miller, 85, of Girard PA, passed away on January 9, 2022 at her home with her family nearby.
 She was born on September 30,1936 in Erie, PA, the youngest daughter of Roy and Ethel (Hauck) Peterson. 
 Barb graduated in 1954 from Rice Avenue Union High School where she was known as “Pete”. 
 She was a member of St. Johns the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard. 
 Barb married “the love of her life” Jerry Miller, on May 2, 1956. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Family meant everything to her! She helped Jerry with family businesses (Miller Farm & Garden, Northwest Gravel) and also worked at the Mission and Girard Rice Avenue Middle School. 
She and Jerry loved raising their family out in the country on Route 18 in the fresh air, sunshine and wide-open spaces. Barb enjoyed family vacations to Bow Lake, New Hampshire when the kids were younger, was an avid reader, puzzler (jigsaw and crossword) and really loved working in the yard. 
As a grandmother/great-grandmother she loved watching the next generation of Miller kids grow up. She enjoyed their visits, phone calls and was proud of them as they made their way in the world.  Christmases were hectic, yet she cherished the holiday with her family, especially when the grandchildren were younger.
 In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, in 2012, as well as a brother, Burdette Peterson and sister, Rosemary Beatty. 
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Michelle (Larry) Uhlman of Millcreek, four sons; Mitch (Kris) Miller of Clemmons, NC, Pat (Denise) Miller of Girard, Jeff Miller of Girard and Chuck Miller of Brookhaven, PA and her brother-in-law Father Charles Miller, OFM, of Silver Spring, MD. Also grandsons: Josh (Erin) Miller, Matt Miller, Zach (Amy) Miller & Luke Miller and Brandon Miller, granddaughters; Alex (Nick) Anshant, Kara Miller, Ashley & Kristen Miller, Kenzie Miller, Emily & Larissa Miller and great-grandchildren; Noelle & Harper Miller, Emerson Miller, Liam Anshant and Alivia, Clint, Sophia, and Samuel Hetrick as well as many of nieces, nephews, special friends & neighbors.
 Friends may call on Friday from 10AM to the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00AM at St. John's Parish Center, 1001 Main St. East, Girard with Rev. Charles Miller O.F.M. officiating. Masks are required for all those entering the parish center.
 Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Girard. 
The family is rejoicing knowing that mom is happy to be together with dad again.
