Charles Vincent Graham, age 87 of Girard, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. He was born in Corry on March 21, 1934, to the late Charles Clinton Graham and Kathryn (Burik) Graham.
He lived in and worked at the Phoenix Hotel in Corry with his parents, and he also worked on the Burik Farm in Columbus, PA in the summers. He graduated from Corry Area High School in 1952 as the first class under the Corry area designation. After high school, Charles worked with his uncles at the Burik & Savko Lumber Mill in Columbus, PA and he became involved in Democratic politics to become a state representative to the state committee. He graduated from Bryant & Stratton Business Institute in Buffalo, NY in 1956 and he also attended Erie Institute of Technology for electronics.
Charles enlisted into the United States Army in 1956. He served lastly with the Headquarters battalion 73rd Field Artillery Regiment out of Fort Hood, Texas, earning the rank of Sergeant. Upon his honorable discharge in 1960 he returned to the Erie area.
Charles worked at the Erie County Courthouse in charge of the County Owned Property Department. Charles held the first Wine Sales License through Penn Shore Vineyards in North East, PA. He was an over-the-road truck driver until he was hired at GE Locomotive plant in Erie in the testing department until his retirement in 1998. Charles was involved in many different clubs including, Kiwanis Key Club, Stanford Hose Co., Corry Area JC's which he was a co-founder and charter president, the NRA, and he was secretary for the Corry Game Club Inc. which his father co-founded in 1922. He was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus #425; BPOE Elks Lodge; disabled American Veterans Robert Johns Co., Erie #73 and a former member of the UEW Local #506.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his ex-wife Jamertta May Browning Borg; several aunts and uncles; and an infant sister.
He is survived by a son, Charles E. Graham of Girard; two step-sons, Ted J. Borg of Weatherford, OK and David E. Borg and his wife Debra of Lake City; a sister Patricia Marie Infantino and her husband John of Harborcreek; a cousin, Sue Brewer; a granddaughter, Jamertta Maura Graham of Girard; five step-grandchildren; nine step-great grandchildren.
Friends are invited to call Monday, August 2, 2021, from 10AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 12PM at Edder Funeral Home 309 E Main Street, Girard, where full military honors will be observed..
Private burial at St. Thomas Cemetery in Corry will follow.
