Daniel R. Sparks Jr., known as "Pappy", age 92 of Springfield, PA passed away November 28, 2020 at UPMC Hamot. He was born August 15, 1928 in Fort Fairfield, Maine, son to the late Daniel R. Sparks Sr.
Daniel was stationed at Ft. Bragg NC, while he served in the US Army with the Transportation Corps as a Combat Engineer during the Korean War. While serving he spent ninety days in the French Morocco rebuilding military Air Bases, and three years in Newfoundland. Following his Honorable Discharge he settled in the Pittsburgh area working for Dluto Wrecking Company, various Steel Mills, and construction. He moved to the Springfield area where he owned and operated the LaRochelle Motel in East Springfield for 43 years.
Victoria and Frank Butchkoskey, his step son, took care of and loved him dearly the last twelve years after his wife, Mary Ellen Butchkoskey Sparks, passing.
Daniel was loved by all.
Following a private service with full military honors he will be laid to rest in Springfield Cemetery.
