Dennis Orr

Dennis A. Orr, 76, of Girard passed away on Friday February 24, 2023 at Saint Vincent Hospital.

He was born on October 2, 1946 a son to the late Boyd and Eileen (Hucklebury) Orr.

Dennis graduated from Northwestern High School in 1964.  Following high school he began work for Erie Ceramic Arts staying there until he was offered a position in the Millcreek Police Department. He progressed through various ranks eventually becoming part of the drug taskforce as well as a detective. He was selected to attend the FBI National Academy. Dennis retired after a career with the department over 25 years.

Dennis was eager to tackle of a new project becoming a self-taught handy man. He was a self-taught handyman and contributed to the maintenance and renovation of his own and his family members' homes. He was an avid wood worker, crafting many unique and decorative pieces. Dennis spent many hours tinkering in his garage restoring well worn antiques to new life.  He and his wife loved to take long motorcycle trips, traveling the countryside. Dennis, along with his family enjoyed camping as life long campers. He was very involved in his young family’s life. Pulling Dennis away from a good book was not an easy task.

He will be greatly missed by his family which include his wife, Kathryn (Sasala) Orr whom he married on June 7, 1969; daughters, Cheri Blarr (John); son, Jeff Orr; sisters, Joyce Jones (Ronald), Beth Langston; grandchildren, Cassandra Blarr, Ellie Blarr, and Izabella Orr; as well as several nieces nephews and many whom knew him as a father figure.

Friends may call on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Edder Funeral Home Inc. 309 Main St. E. Girard, a Funeral Service will be held there the following day on Wednesday March 1, 2023 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Johns Cemetery.
