Frank E. Tushak, 76, of Girard, died Monday, January 10, 2022, at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
He was born August 17, 1945, in Uniontown, PA, Fayette County, a son of the late Jack and Kathryn (Brensy) Tushak.
Frank graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1963. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S Army. Following basic training, Frank volunteered for the Parachute Infantry, training at Fort Benning, Georgia where he received his jump wings. He deployed to Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division, conducting intelligence operations.
In addition to his Parachutist Badge, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he returned home and began working with his brother, Tom Tushak Construction Inc., where he eventually retired from.
Frank was a member of the V.F.W. Post #4965 in Springfield and the Girard American Legion Post #494. He always enjoyed playing golf in his spare time.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dolores Pacofsky and a brother, Tom Tushak.
He will be greatly missed by his family which include his life partner, Jeanette L. Olesnanik; three nephews, Jon Tushak, James Tushak (Wendy), Greg Pacofsky (Michelle) and a niece, Gretchen Vick (Simon).
Friends may call on Friday from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and attend services there on Saturday at 10 A.M.
Burial will follow in the Girard Cemetery with full military honors.
