Franklin Adams Obituary

Franklin J. “Frankie” Adams, 31 of Lake City, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.
He was born August 20, 1989 in Erie, a son of Stephanie Ruggles of Cranesville and Clifford C. Adams of Youngsville.
Frankie graduated from Northwestern High School and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following basic and advanced infantry training, Frankie deployed to Iraq during “Operation Iraqi Freedom” with 1st Cavalry Division, 82nd Field Artillery and assigned there to 3D Heavy “Greywolf” Brigade Combat Team. It was there he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Meritorious Service Award for as follows as written by his commanding officer. “PFC Adams is known as the best gunner in the platoon, successfully manned three different weapons systems on over 200 missions as the lead truck without incident. His actions were fast and decisive deterring possible enemy attacks away from the patrol. PFC Adams properly executed countless escalation of force procedures against other vehicles and personnel correctly nullifying the need for deadly force.”
In addition to his previous awards, he was also awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Army Overseas Ribbon, the Army Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Army Valorous Unit Award, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal.
Upon his Honorable Discharge from the Army, Frankie returned home and began studying Criminal Justice at Mercyhurst University. His goal later, was to gain employment at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, to assist others who had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  Frankie could often be seen at West County fitness, where he enjoyed physical training and simply staying in shape.
He will be greatly missed by his family, which include his mother, Stephanie D. Ruggles (Dale Weiss) of Cranesville, his father, Clifford C. Adams (Ingrid) of Warren, PA; maternal grandmother, Antoinette Ruggles of Erie; his brothers and sisters, Briana M. Ruggles of Lake City, Brandon G. Ruggles (Aundrea) of Waterford, Devin Adams and Aiden Adams of Youngsville; a nephew, Landon D. Ruggles and several cousins, aunts, and uncles.
