Jacqueline Lasher Obituary

Jacqueline Joyce Amidon Houseal Lasher,84, a resident of The Regency at South Shore, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital, surrounded by her family.
 She was the daughter of the late Clayton Foster and Elmarietta Gertrude Washburn Amidon, born at home on May 4, 1938 in Erie, Pennsylvania.
  She attended Lincoln and Wilson Schools and graduated from Academy High School in 1956. Living in the Albion-Cranesville area since 1975.
Jacqueline trained as a stenographer, but after several years of working in that area, she decided to enroll in college. She attended Villa Maria College, studying Home Economics where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1976. Shortly after, she was employed by Conneaut Area City Schools where she taught Home Economics and Family and Consumer Sciences at the High School and Rowe Middle School for 20 years. She then furthered her education at Edinboro University receiving her master’s degree in Educational Psychology in 1981. Jacqueline did additional course work at Kent State University to meet the requirements to teach Family and Consumer Sciences.
   She cared about the community she lived in and served as Cranesville's Mayor from 1999 to 2004. She was then elected to serve on Cranesville's Borough Council until 2010. She left this position to winter in Arizona.
   She was a member of Cranesville United Methodist Church where she served on various committees, sang in the choir, and organized special events. She and her husband Paul established a Neighborhood Watch in Cranesville to make Connie Lance Park a safer place for the neighborhood children.
  Jacqueline had been a member of the Albion Garden and Civic Club and contributed numerous floral designs for the Club Flower Show and the Albion Fair.
   She adopted her husband's love of the fair and together they spent every day taking in the sights and sounds and eating chicken barbecue prepared by the Lions.
   Jacqueline enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts, especially sewing. She also enjoyed home decorating and collecting antiques.
   After her husband's retirement in 2002, the couple began wintering in Arizona, where they purchased a home in Green Valley.
  Jacqueline is preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Lasher. 
  She is survived by her children; Jill Houseal (Melinda), Jan Turner (Arthur), Diann Turner (Raymond) and Kenneth Lasher (Lori). She dearly loved her grandchildren, Megan Tillery (Chris), Jessica Church (Steven), Amber Panko (Christopher), Amanda Kindle (Alex), Alyssa Leonheart, (Mark), Ashley Stroud (Sam) and Ayrika Turner; great-grandchildren; Christopher, Chloe and Colette Panko, J.C. Tillery, Emersyn and Holden Kindle, Lilith Leonheart, Ava Stroud, Ben and Ellie Petit; her brother, Forest Amidon (Katie) and several nieces and nephews.
  Friends may call on Tuesday from 2PM to the time of service at 4PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard.
