Jeffery Donahue Obituary

Jeffery F. Donahue, 67, of Lake City, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 21, 2024.

He was a beloved son to Gerald "Jerry" and the late Delores "Dee" (Luciano) Donahue, born on November 30, 1956 in Erie.

Jeff was a 1974 graduate of Fairview High School who joined the workforce, exploring a variety of jobs. Jeff found his calling initially as the bartender and later as the maintenance technician at Best Western, where he served for several years. Following, he progressed to a Master Technician while working at AIS Commercial Parts and Services, and later at Wm. T. Spaeder, from which he retired in 2021. The nature of his work gifted Jeff with the ability to fix just about anything. He was always willing to offer friends and family a hand - he loved to use his knowledge and skills to help others and did so eagerly. Not only did Jeff support others through his technical skill, he adored being there for others in all capacities; whether as a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold, or an ear to bend for friends, family or anyone fortunate to be close to him. And if one happened to be just passing by Jeff, they'd surely be greeted with a cheerful "Top o' the mornin' to ya!" before parting ways.

Jeff was a current Sons of the American Legion Post 742 (Fairview), the American Legion Riders Chapter 742, as well as their former Road Captain. He participated in many Veterans of Foreign War locals across Erie County, and was a member of the Girard American Legion Post 494 Pool Team. He was an avid league pool player for 25 years, making sure to hone his skills on the pool table in his basement. Many get-togethers with friends were celebrated in the basement.

In his free time, Jeff loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle; adventuring to wherever the roads would take him next. Frequently that path led him to the lake where he especially enjoyed watching eagles fly above the water and seeing the beautiful Lake Erie sunsets. Jeff had such a passion for woodworking and creating unique pieces for his loved ones. Earlier in his life, Jeff was also an outdoorsman, who enjoyed rabbit hunting with his beloved beagle, Jasper. Jeff cherished time spent with his friends, daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. He loved a friendly round of golf, a good meal at fine dining restaurants, and always looked forward to his father-daughter dates. He was a sight to be seen when he was dressed to impress with his cowboy hat and cowboy boots. While Jeff had an adventurous heart, he also appreciated a bit of quiet time at home, settling into his favorite recliner to watch movies or gathering for quality time with family and friends.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his sister, Cris Kidder, and brother-in-law, Tim Brink.

Jeff will be sorely missed by his daughter, Pauline Olesnanik (Josh); father, Jerry Donahue; brother, Terry Donahue (Kathy); sister, Tammie Brink; brother-in-law, Bob Kidder; grandson, Isaiah Olesnanik; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and more friends than one can imagine. As the family honors Jeff, an Irish Blessing is extended in his memory:

"May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields, And, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand."
