Mary "Toni" (Anthony) Rash

Mary I. “Toni” Rash, 71 of Girard, died Monday, April 5, 2021 at UPMC Hamot following a brief illness.

 She was born in Erie County on February 23, 1950, a daughter of the late Charles A. Anthony and A. “June” (Robinson) Schneider.

Toni attended Meadville and Linesville High Schools where she was a noted vocalist and musician. She continued her passion for singing and was well known in many local country bands. She also had the opportunity to sing in Nashville on Broadway at “Tootsies Orchid Lounge.” Locally, she was often seen performing at the Eagles Clubs, the American Legion, the VFW, the Home Tavern, and many other locations throughout the area.

She was an auxiliary member of both the Springfield VFW Post# 4965 and the Girard American Legion Post #494. In addition to singing, Toni enjoyed painting ceramics, working in her flower garden, and sewing. She also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles in her quiet time.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two stepsons, Michael L. Rash Jr., and Douglass E. Rash; two sisters, Charlotte Anthony and Miki Dewitt and a brother, Bill Anthony.

Toni will be greatly missed by her family, which include her husband, Michael L. Rash Sr., whom she married August 27, 1988 in Meadville; her daughters, Sheila K. Magie (Eric), Christina M. Wampler; a stepdaughter, Shonna J. Steele (Keith); a stepson, Billy J. Rash (Cindy); a sister, Nancy Shearer; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday (TODAY) from 5 pm to 8 pm at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend services there on Friday at 10 am with Rev. Clyde Davis officiating. ALL CDC guidelines will be followed.
