Myrtle "Pinky" Scott Obituary

Myrtle “Pinky” Warner Scott passed from this world on April 5, 2021 at the age of 97 years and six days. Pinky was born in West Girard, PA to the late Otto Levi & Bessie Winifred Abbey Warner. She graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1941 and married Raymond Forrest Scott on February 7, 1942. Following Raymond’s retirement as Girard’s door-to-door USPS letter carrier, they lived for several years in Punta Gorda, FL and, in 1997, moved to Sun City, AZ. In 2012 they moved to Brentwood, CA and spent the remainder of their lives living with their daughter and son-in-law, Rae & Don Huntington.

In addition to her parents, Pinky was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Raymond Forrest Scott, sons, Rodney E. Scott and Ricky E. Scott, a grandchild, Courtney C. Scott, siblings, Esther E. Polk, Laurence A. Warner, Kenneth E. Warner, Otto S. Warner, Victor C. Warner and David K. Warner, brother-in-law, Charles Polk and sister-in-law, Helen Warner.

Pinky is survived by her daughter, Rae E. Huntington and husband Don, brothers, Richard Q. Warner and wife Peggy of Phenix City, AL and James D. Warner and wife Dona of Girard, sister-in-law, Lucille Warner, brother-in-law, Martin Gustafson and wife Huong, grandchildren, Matthew D. Huntington and wife Elisabel, Dawn Marie Huntington Sable and husband Timothy, Adam Scott Huntington and Ronald (Bo) Scott, great grandchildren, Adam D. Huntington, Jordan Scott, Courtney Renee Scott, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Pinky attended C&MA Churches every place that she lived. Most of her life was in Girard. She was a member of the Girard Alliance Church where she served faithfully in many capacities. As a teen she played a saxophone in the church band. Her Lord was her refuge and strength throughout her life. Many remember her working at Hathaway’s Florist and the School Cafeteria in Lake City. In Punta Gorda, Pinky volunteered many hours at the local hospital where she learned to use a computer. She was kind-hearted and remembered many loved ones with birthday and Christmas cards. For the past 12 years she enjoyed connecting with family and friends on Facebook and ZOOM.

Pinky leaves behind a legacy of fond memories. She was liked by everyone who knew her and adored by those of us who knew her well.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main Street East, Girard, PA 16417.
