Patricia "Pat" (Hitchcock) Hayes

Patricia "Pat" Hitchcock Hayes, 87, died on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at her home in Girard, PA.

She was born in Erie on November 28, 1933, the daughter of the late Robert M. and Winifred McCord Hitchcock.

The Hitchcock family moved to Buffalo, NY from Dunkirk, NY where Mrs. Hayes graduated from Bennett High School, attended Millard Fillmore School of Nursing and Bryant and Stratton Business Institute.

She was married 50 years to the late Roger Russ Hayes, Jr. Roger and Pat moved to Girard with their 3 children in 1964.

Mrs. Hayes was the financial secretary of St. John’s the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, retiring in 1986.  She and the Rev. Robert Massie founded “Happy Days Preschool” which she named.  Pat was secretary of St. John’s Parish Council and ran the bingo office.  She was Secretary and President of St. John’s Rosary Society and Secretary, Treasurer and President of Happy Days Preschool. Pat also taught home nursing for the American Red Cross and was a life member of the Zuker Club.

She was an avid golfer, playing in many of the leagues in the area including the Friday Night League and the Fox Run Monday League.

She was a member of the local bridge club. She enjoyed a little gambling and bingo at the Social Hall. Pat loved to travel and visit her family.

Mrs. Hayes is survived by Roger and Maggie Hayes of Cypress Texas, Nancy H. Shields of Tucson, AZ and Robert & Lynne Hayes of Nashville TN, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 1 sister and 7 nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday, July 5th at Edder Funeral Home Inc. , 309 Main St. East, Girard from 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a Memorial Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 101 Olin Ave., Girard on Tuesday July 6th at 10 a.m. with Rev. Pat McCormick officiating.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Girard.
