Robert J. Klein

Robert J. Klein,  age 81, of Hermitage, PA, died, Thursday, January 21, 2021 at his residence. He was born September 13, 1939, in Lake City, a son to the late Chrystal and Lura Huston Klein.

 

Robert graduated from Girard High School in 1957.

 

Robert enlisted in the United States Army in July of 1965. He then transferred into the United States Air Force, where he would stay until his retirement as a Technical Sergeant in 1982. During his enlistment Robert served as an Air Force Security Specialist where he performed protection duties. He then transferred and served as a Law Enforcement Supervisor following this assignment he served as an Audiovisual Technician. Lastly Robert served in Washington D.C. at the Pentagon in the Combat Operations Staff. In all, he served in foreign service for 4 years and a month. During his enlistment Robert was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; as well as the Army Good Conduct Medal.

 

Upon his honorable discharge Robert returned home and began working for PHB Corporation in the molding division for a shot time. Once fully retired he traveled the country in his camper for another 20 years before settling in Hermitage, PA. Robert loved fishing, eating and camping.

 

In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Ann Klein in infancy; and five brothers, Harley Klein, Maurice Klein, Raymond Klein, Paul Klein, and Charles Klein.

 

He is survived by his sister, Mary Lou Pfeil, and her children, Daniel Pfeil and Robin Burbage; a nephew, Kenneth Klein, and his daughter, Christa Klein-Pettis; a niece, Ruth Ann Klein; as well as many more nieces and nephews.

 

No public services will be held at this time.
