Robert J. Russin, 85 of Girard, died on Friday January 27, 2023 at UPMC Hamot.
He was born February 11, 1937 a son to the late Robert and Edith (Brine) Russin.
Bob grew up in West County graduating from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1955. Following high school he took work for the local rail road as well as at the Tannery. He then joined the United States Army National Guard where he stayed involved over ten years. Bob found work at Parker White Metal now PHB Inc. where he stayed as a quality control supervisor for thirty four years. He retired in 1999 with a job well done.
He was a family man that loved the hours spent with loved ones. He was an avid hunter and fisherman teaching his children from a young age the enjoyment of spending time together outdoors. Bob also enjoyed spending time with family, friends and his faithful dog Babe at his hunting camp in Tidioute, Pa.
He was a professional archer, creating his own arrows and competing at the local Triboro Archery Range where he was a member. Bob in his younger years loved to walk up creek beds and through the woods. He also enjoyed fishing for walleye on Lake Erie. Bob also had a musical touch and enjoyed playing country music on his old Gibson with his loving wife Shirley singing alongside him. Bob was a man of faith and family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Kostrubanic; a daughter, Vickie Russin; son, Michael Russin; and sister, Shirley English.
He will be greatly missed by his family which include his wife of over 50 years Shirley (Burkett) Russin whom he married on September 1, 1967; daughters, Natalie Szymanowski and Sherri Hanzelka; Sons, Scott Russin (Kris), Eric Russin (Michelle), Robert Russin (Lisa), and Edward Hanzelka (Shari); brother, Denny Russin (Eileen); grandchildren, Josh Szymanowski (Joyce), Michael Russin (Geneva), Jeremiah Russin, Sarah Russin, Morgan Russin, Timothy Russin; great-grandchildren; Summer and Joshua Szymanowski, and Mateo Burgos; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Wednesday February 1, 2023 at the Edder Funeral Home Inc. 309 Main St. E. Girard, from 2:00 to the time of service at 5:00 p.m.
