Robin Murphy Obituary

Robin (Chesko) Murphy, 63, of Erie, died on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at The Residence on Presque Isle Bay in Erie following her courageous trial with Alzheimer’s.

She was born on April 11, 1959, in Erie, PA, a daughter of the late Ronald and Ruth (Stuart) Chesko.

Robin grew up in Girard attending St. John's Catholic School continuing on to graduate from Girard High School in 1977. She married the love of her life, Pat Murphy, on August 21, 1982 in Girard, PA. Robin worked through high school at Morlite Inc. After graduating, she began working with Dr. Richard Juang as a receptionist. She then took her bright personality to Dr. Lawrence Blake, an Erie Dentist. In 1986, Robin began a 35-year career at Erie Insurance as a Policy Processing Specialist. Robin developed life-long friendships with many co-workers as they were drawn to her kind heart, her beautiful smile and her strong character.

Robin loved her family and took great care and pride in her role as mother to Michelle.
She was a very social woman, and enjoyed dining out with family and friends, taking trips to the Erie Playhouse, shopping, concerts, and bowling. Over the years Michelle and Robin attended many marching band concerts and loved to re-enact performances at home. Robin developed many lasting friendships from the basketball and softball games she attended over the years as the #1 fan for her only child Michelle. She loved to support Michelle’s teams in any way possible, from running concessions to keeping scorebook to quietly challenging incorrect calls made by many referees and umpires. Through the Friendship Ministry at St. Joseph’s Church, Robin volunteered regularly, giving her kindness to those with special needs and even hosted ‘Reading with Robin’ for several years at Manchester Commons. As a member of St. Patrick’s Church, she impacted many with her kind heart and warm smile. She had the honor and joy of celebrating 40 years of marriage with Pat this summer before her passing. Robin was a great friend to many, a nurturing mother, a caring wife, and a faithful servant of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald "Ronny" Chesko Jr.

She will be greatly missed by her family, which includes her husband, Patrick Murphy; only child, Michelle (Abby) Murphy of Madison, WI; grandchildren, Nora James and Logan Robin Murphy; three sisters, Rebecca Deutsch, Regina Williams and Ruth (John) Young; brother and sister in law Norm and Sarah Murphy; extended family and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Tuesday at 10AM with Msgr. Henry Kriegel officiating.
