Ron D. Paschke

"If it's too tough for you, it's just right for me."

 Ron D. Paschke, 63 of Girard, died Sunday, June 20, 2021, at his home, surrounded by family and friends, following a courageous battle with ALS.

He was born in Erie, PA, a son of the late Donal and Katherine (Kilbane) Paschke.

Ron graduated from Harborcreek High School in 1976. He attended Erie County Vo-Tech, where he studied Industrial Electricity.

 He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local #56 as an Apprentice and in 1982 became a Journeyman Electrician. He also took multiple management classes through the Union. Ron was employed by the Union for 42 years, retiring January 1, 2018, as a General Foreman. 

 Ron was a member of the Girard American Legion Post #494, S.O.N.S. of Lake Erie, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Outback Acres Horseshoe Club at the Schaaf Farm. He served as a past board member with the Girard School District, holding a two-year term. Ron was instrumental in the placement of Donna Miller as Superintendent and assisting her administration within the school district. Ron enjoyed mentoring and teaching young people about hunting and fishing. He actively mentored apprentices in his trade as a Foreman. He loved fishing, gardening, boating and archery hunting. Ron loved people and people loved Ron. 

 He was known as one tough guy, who worked hard and played hard. Everyone who knew him agreed that he lived by his motto and put his all into everything he did. He loved Lake Erie and spent many hours fishing there, where he would take many first timers out to catch their first walleye. His catch was always shared with family and friends at his famous fish fries.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rob Paschke and father-in-law, John Alberstadt Sr.

 He will be greatly missed by his family, which includes his wife, Victoria  "Vickie" Paschke, whom he married on May 1, 1982 in Erie; daughters, Connie M. (Perry) Johnson and Melissa A. (Cody) Campbell; son, Matthew R. (Allison Deighan) Paschke; sisters, Rene Wehner, Terri (Leonard) Paproski and Rhonda Rapela; granddaughters, Caroline and Eleanor Johnson and Baby Campbell expected in October; mother-in-law, Brooksie Alberstadt; brother-in-law, John Alberstadt, Jr. (Linda); sister-in-law, Karen Panighetti (Dan), as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. E., Girard, PA 16417. A prayer service will be held there on Friday at 9:30 AM, followed by the funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 101 Olin Ave., Girard, at 10 AM with Rev. Scott Detisch officiating.

Ron's family would like to express their gratitude to AseraCare Hospice and his "Tuck In Framily" who visited daily.
