Ronald D. Greer, of Girard, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at UPMC Hamot following a brief illness.
He was born on September 22, 1941, in Titusville, son of the late Walter H. and Larie A. (Daniels) Traffis.
Ron graduated from Titusville High School in 1959. Following high school, he studied Electrical Engineering at Penn State Behrend and began his career in the engineering field with IBM in Endicott, NY. He returned to Penn State Behrend to continue his studies. He later transferred to State College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. While a student at Penn State, he received his private pilot license which he held the remainder of his life.
He continued work in the engineering field at White Sands Missile Range test site for Western Electric in Las Cruces, NM. He later worked for Eagle Picture in Socorro, NM specializing in military projects. Ron returned to the Girard area in 1972 and began work at Spectrum Control. In 1988, he and his wife Carol began their own company, “CARON Enterprises, Inc.” which was a manufacturer of electronic assemblies for the military and telecom industries. Ron retired from the company in 2009, but continued working at his own pace, driving truck for Copeland Lumber. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a member of the Presque Isle Rotary and enjoyed many years of flying, taking friends and family on many sightseeing trips throughout the area. He also enjoyed motorcycles, the gang at McDonalds, model trains and golf.
He will be greatly missed by his family which include his wife of 59 years, Carol J. (Fustini) Greer, whom he married on November 30, 1963, in Titusville; two daughters, Shannon L. Colussi and Heather G. Evans (William C. III); two grandchildren, Logan W. Evans and Brooke L. Evans; a sister, Ronda Jackson; and two nephews, Jevon McCandless and Lawrence Jackson Jr.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2PM to 4PM and 6Pm to 8PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main Street East, Girard and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Thursday at 10AM with Deacon Anthony Alleruzzo officiating.
Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Centerville, PA.
