Starlene "Star" (Bennett) Brooks

Starlene "Star" Bennett Brooks, 68, of Girard, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at St. Mary's Nursing Home.

She was born on November 2, 1954, at Fort Dix, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Donald A. and Mildred J. Spaulding Bennett.

Star graduated from Fairview High School in 1972. She worked with her family’s business, "Lyle Bennett Co., in Erie where she sold outdoor equipment. She also worked for the Erie County Home, (now Pleasant Ridge Manor) and in 2000 went to work for Wal-Mart. She took pride in spending many years taking care of and raising her family as a mother and homemaker as well as watching Andy and Ryan Barlow as children, maintaining a lifelong relationship with them.

Star enjoyed working, training and helping people, playing guitar, working with the elderly, dancing and reading.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gregory A. Bennett and a brother in law, William Brooks.

She will be greatly missed by her family, which include her husband, Robert B. Brooks, whom she married February 14, 1980 in Fairview, also by daughters, Angela L. Rolph (Aaron) of Erie, Kayla A. Fugate (Robert) of Millcreek; grandchildren, Allie, Carter, Hunter, Haylie and Hannah; brother, Donn R. Bennett; sister in law, Jane Bennett; nephew, Stephen Bennett (Ashley); nieces, Mara Bennett and Alex Bennett.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 5, 2023, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend services there on Monday at 10AM.
