William B. "Bill" Gohn

William B. “Bill” Gohn, 85, of Fairview, died Friday, September 10, 2021, at St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge.
 He was born March 20, 1936, in York, PA, a son of the late William M. and E. Lorraine (Rife) Gohn.
Bill graduated from William Penn High School of York, PA in 1954. He continued his education at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA where he studied English and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. After college Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army reserves. He began employment with the company now known as Equi-Fax.
During the Berlin crisis in 1961, he was activated to active duty with the 124th Transportation Battalion. 
Upon his honorable discharge, he continued studying throughout his career in the Insurance industry, which began with Erie Insurance in the Harrisburg office and worked in Mifflin County as an Adjuster. Bill moved to Erie in 1991 and became a CPCU Claims Manager, retiring from that position.
He was a member of the Fairview Presbyterian Church and the Lakeview Country Club. Bill loved golf and learning about history and reading.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert M. Gohn.
He will be greatly missed by his family, which include his wife, E. Jane (Clark) Gohn, whom he married June 17, 1961, in Pitcairn, PA, also a daughter, Janet Lorraine Richards of Olmstead Falls, OH, his grandchildren, Lindsay Michele Richards of Olmstead Falls, OH and Joshua Michael Richards of San Diego, CA.
Memorial calling hours will be held at Edder Funeral Home Inc., Girard, Saturday, September 18th at 10AM, immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 11AM with Pastor Emily Zeig Lindsey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fairview Presbyterian Church, 4264 Avonia Rd., Fairview, PA 16415 or to Fairview Fire Department, 7190 W Ridge Rd, Fairview, PA 16415.
