Community Involvement

A good neighbor is one who helps in good times and bad, the staff at Edder Funeral Home is committed to our community. That commitment is not only at time of death, but to support our local organizations that carry on the traditions of our home town.

Dan Edder has served the community: as a President of the Lake City Girard Chamber of Commerce; been a member of the Fairview Lake City Service Club (FLAG); Friends of the Library; Lake City Community Park Board; Battles Village Board; headed the committee to restore the 1940 Engine #1for our local A.F. Dobler Hose Fire Company; participates in the Mentoring Program at Rice Ave. Middle School; announced the Dan Rice Days parades; headed the Honor Project Committee (Flag Poles and memorials in both cemeteries); is an honorary member of A.F. Dobler Hose; Erie Co. Deputy Coroner for 12 years; Chaired the Memorial Day Services since 2003 acting as Master of Ceremonies at the Girard and St. Johns Cemeteries; was honored in 2012 by the US Navy participating in “Leaders to Sea” Aboard the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) and most recently coordinated the Hometown Defender Banner Program to honor our local Veterans.

Bonnie Edder, Ben Tate, and Mary Beth Himes have assisted Dan in many of the above. They also serve the community in their own ways… Making funnel cakes for the library, angel tree, Rice Avenue Library Board, Color Run for the Dobler Hose Company, raffle gifts for local benefits and organizations, trail of treats.
